The hotel was clean and the location was quiet very close to the subway too. We booked a beautifully decorated and well-equipped room with private bathroom and a queen size bed, as example. The staff was attentive and excellent and helped make our 33 days stay a perfectly pleasant experience. Location: the venue was right by the main attractions of NYC like Times Square and Grand Central Station and metro, food, shops.
Some people working there were not very friendly.

The hotel was an excellent home base for enjoying a very nice area, just off the center, local eateries, and madison square garden and times square. Well decorated and brand-new units with a queen size bed, private bath, for instance, and the staff were excellent. I greatly enjoyed a convenient decor.

Friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff. Very clean room and shared bath facility. Quiet, 7th floor room was perfect for my evening desk- work. Firm mattress was just right.
Tv channels were very limited. Missing were such programs as Democracy Now! And channel msnbc. More movie channels would be nice. A larger lobby area, where guests could meet and talk a bit would be a welcome addition.

quaint and charming on a relatively (for midtown Manhattan!) quiet street close to many restaurants, theatre and shopping. Seemed like you were stepping back in time bait. Very old school feel, but clean and updated.

tastefully refurbished keeping the original charm. No problem with the shared bathroom.
no opportunity or space to interact with other guests

The location is the only great advantage of this hotel (and also the staff which is friendly). We were lucky to live in a room with own bathroom.
There were no refrigerator and microwave oven in the room which were important because there was no breakfast in the hotel. The conditioner was very noisy and ineffective. There were certain innovation works on the facade of the the hotel and thus was not a good view from our window.

prime access to bustling parks and monumental landmarks
During my month-long stay, I loved being just a short walk from the vibrant Union Square Park and the fine Empire State Building were great. This place is perfect for anyone looking to explore New York City on foot, as everything I wanted to see was easily reachable within a leisurely stroll.

Location was excellent. 3 blocks from 5th Ave and the Empire state, which is the start of your viewing experience in New York. Uptown 6 metro station 2 blocks away, Penn Station a 15 minute walk which provides access to most metro lines that let you go uptown and downtown. Safe location, felt comfortable walking back to the hotel of an evening / late night. Laundrette and restaurants also within the area.
A little more pricey than meets the eye due to city tax, but I would recomend it for the location. The rooms are a little small but provide all the facilities that are required for a city stay.
